Interesting. I never heard of this person, but I’ve just checked the catalog of the local university library, and they have 3 books by him, including the 2 you’ve mentioned. I plan on not only reading them, but would be interested in the continuing up-dates. I was planning a European trip next year and this sounds like something I would like to do as well.. Tim

  5. Hello Nick,
I noticed you saying your potential journey becomes a little ill-defined after the Iron Gates so I thought I’d tell you about a book I just finished by an A J Mackinnon – an Australian who sailed a tiny dinghy through there and through to the Black Sea in 1998. He also takes in a fair bit of the Rhine and the Danube which may be helpful. It’s called The Unlikely Voyage of Jack de Crow and is an entertaining read. Looking forward to those postcards.

    Hi Nick
Good luck – this will be one of life’s great adventures! Paddy is a hero of mine, i wrote a song about him and his journey http://youtu.be/lqNbVdoEmUk – i really would like to see the third and final book published soon – it is on the cards and the unfinished manuscript I believe is being edited by Artemis Cooper. I would dearly like to follow your journey but not on Twitter – please, PLF would turn in his grave. Can you not add (my) names to an email list ? and or send an eshot when there is a web update?
    have a great time

I thoroughly enjoyed following the journey and i do hope to see more of your writing especially as you have a touch of the old maestro PLF. Enjoy your destination and make sure we know where and when the full version of the journey is published.
